The greenness of the young Lava (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture) agency was not a handicap. Located in Australia (Sydney) and Germany (Stuttgart) and founded in 2007 by Chris Bosse, Tobias Wallisser and Alexander Rieck, the Laboratory for Visionary Architecture, won a prestigious tender, to say the least, late last August: i.e. the design of downtown Masdar, the zero carbon future city of UAE.

“The Oasis of the future” is the name chosen by the architects for their modeling project of the eco-city .”The well-being in future cities around the globe will depend on the ability of mankind to develop and integrate sustainable technologies” , explains Lava team in their response to the tender. He added, “The center of Masdar is to become an iconic lighthouse which focuses world attention to the concept of sustainable technology”.
