Like every year, the American agency Mercer has just disclosed the list of the cities in which life is good. Political and social environment, health, education, entertainment, consumer goods… 39 factors in total, grouped into 10 categories, have been sifted through by this survey conducted in 420 cities in the world.

BuitenBeter is a new application available since April 26th in the town of Eindhoven, and now in the whole country. Users take a photo to show the problem to notify, choose the category matching the problem and geolocalise very precisely the incriminated place thanks to the GPS included in the iPhone. Then they only have to send their complaint as such and it will be directly sent to the town council.

The town of Örebro has decided to set an example in terms of environment protection. From now on, a tax applies to city employees when they are using the most polluting means of transport, such as planes or personal cars, for professional travels.

Chen wants to develop a system that would store the kinetic energy produced when using a free bicycle service, and then use that energy to electrically power a hybrid public transport system once the bike returns to its terminal.

The municipal counsel of the city of Geneva has just voted to close 200 of its streets to cars, leaving the lanes free for pedestrians. In four years, the decision must be applied, and the city is required to come up with a plan of action within three months.
