Designed to be installed at every street corner like any bottle bank, the Ecobox project aims at rewarding responsible citizens. This slot machine would swallow up all kinds of recyclable objects, from glass bottles to aluminium cans, and deliver an aromatic plant to the generous donor in return. “Presently the project, which aspires to bring patches of green in the city, is at concept stage,” the architect Gilles Nadler, its designer, explains. Photovoltaic cells placed on the roof of the Ecobox enables the latter to be self-sufficient in energy while panes of glass act like a greenhouse, helping plants to grow. Displayed this year in the Tuileries gardens within the framework of the Jardinsjardin fair, Ecobox is now looking for street furniture retailers and local authorities that would be interested in this concept of green and futuristic furniture.
