Paris within a second: the application that gives inhabitants of Paris real-time information
par Elsa Sidawy | 11.22.11
On November 16th, the city of Paris launched a new and free mobile phone application to give on-the-move inhabitants of Paris access to practical information. “Paris à la seconde” (Paris within a second) provides iPhone or Androïd mobile phone users with weather forecast alerts, information on unexpected closing of public places or highways, pollution peaks, electricity failures… Local authorities thus promise to provide citizens they know with real-time information. The application is also designed to be a reminder of the events and services offered by the city, like new exhibitions, the opening of subscriptions to evening classes… Besides, users can receive – if they wish – alerts concerning these events and even information about their district. Conversely, the application will enable them to warn local authorities of the incidents they have come across by sending them alerts and photos.
