On November 16th, the city of Paris launched a new and free mobile phone application to give on-the-move inhabitants of Paris access to practical information. “Paris à la seconde” (Paris within a second) provides iPhone or Androïd mobile phone users with weather forecast alerts, information on unexpected closing of public places or highways, pollution peaks, electricity failures…

It is an obvious fact that car manufacturers have gotten hold of: more than 90% of mobility-related advertisements show four-door saloons and convertibles while less than 10% show bikes or public transport. In order to fight this damning assessment, the ARENE has been developing and supporting the “Bambini” project since June 2009 in the Ile-de-France region.
